Roy Halladay secured his 200th career victory pitching eight strong innings against the Miami Marlins to win 2-1. Halladay allowed five hits, walked one and lowered his ERA from 14.73 to 7.63.
The Marlins rank last in the major leagues in runs scored and home runs and were playing without Giancarlo Stanton who was out for the third straight game with a bruised left shoulder.
Ryan Howard had three hits for the Phillies and Laynce Nix had a pinch-hit home run to back up Halladay.
Beckett allowed six hits and struck out nine over 8 1/3 innings of work, his best outing of the season.

Maholm allowed four hits in 7 2/3 innings, walking one and striking out seven. Gio Gonzalez took the loss allowing seven earned runs in five innings of work.
Pittsburgh 10 Cincinnati 7 Michael McKenery hit two home runs and the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied from a five-run deficit to beat the Cincinnati Reds 10-7. McKenry had the first two-homer game of his four-year major league career, and Starling Marte hit a tiebreaking two-run blast.
Milwaukee 4 St. Louis 3 Jonathan Lucroy hit a solo homer in the 10th inning as the Brewers rallied past the St. Louis Cardinals 4-3. The Brewers had been shut out in 32 innings before Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer off reliever Trevor Rosenthal in the eighth that made it 3-2.
San Francisco 10 Chicago 7 Edwin Jackson and Michael Bowden tied a major league record by combining to throw five wild pitches in an inning, and the Giants got another big assist from a Cubs pitcher in a three-run 10th Sunday that led to their 10-7 victory over Chicago. Starlin Castro and Nate Schierholtz hit two-run homers in the first off Tim Lincecum.
Colorado 2 San Diego 1 Todd Helton had a pinch-hit two-run homer in the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie in the Colorado Rockies held on to beat the San Diego Padres 2-1. Rafael Betancourt recorded his fifth save of the season.
