John Jaso hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh inning after the A’s had squandered a four run lead to beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-5. Brandon Moss had three hits and drove in four runs, delivering an early two-run single before adding a two-run homer after Jaso’s shot. Coco Crisp also hit his fourth homer for the A’s, who have won six straight after an 0-2 start.
Through eight games Oakland is now tied with the New York Yankees for a Major League-leading 15 home runs. Crisp who had 11 home runs in 2012 as four to begin the 2013 season. “I don’t expect him to lead the league in home runs, but he’s got some power and sometimes when you get off to a good start, it could be one of those years where some things fall into place,” manager Bob Melvin said.
Josh Hamilton who was making his home debut for the Angels went 0 for 4 with a sacrifice fly. Albert Pujols was 1 for 3. Angel starter C.J. Wilson went six innings allowing four earned runs. He struck out seven and walked three. Wilson left the game leading 5-4, before Kevin Jepsen gave up two home runs , and the lead in the seventh to Jaso and Moss. Jaso is now 24-for-52 (.462) with five home runs and 19 RBIs in his career at Angel Stadium.
