Los Angeles Angels ace Jered Weaver was placed on the 15 day disabled list with a fractured elbow in his non-throwing arm. Weavers is expected to miss 4 to 6 weeks with the injury. The injury occurred Sunday in a game with the Texas Rangers.
“I tried to catch myself and saw the ball coming at me. I didn’t land right on it. Definitely, hyperextended it or something,” Weaver said Sunday. “I kind of landed on my glove and I pushed to get out of the way. I landed in an awkward position.”
Weaver won 20 games in 2012 and will likely be replaced by either Garrett Richards or Jerome Williams in their rotation. Weaver has struggled with fastball velocity this season, and missed three weeks last season with a lower back strain.
