Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki each homered for the second straight game to lead the Colorado Rockies to a 8-4 when over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rockies pounded out 14 hits against Brewers pitching. It was the first victory for new manager Walt Weiss. Jorge De La Rosa started for Colorado and pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up four runs and five hits.Rafael Betancourt got the last out to record his first save.
San Francisco 3 – Los Angeles 0 Madison Bumgarner pitched eight innings of two hit ball, struck out six and walked zero and the San Francisco Giants evened the series with the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 3-0 win in Los Angeles. Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu made his major-league debut giving up 10 hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. He allowed one earned run, struck out five and walked none. The Dodgers Andre Ethier and A.J. Ellis had the two Dodgers hits.
St. Louis 6 – Arizona 1 Matt Holliday led a 10 hit attack with a to run home run and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 in Phoenix. Pete Kozma and Jon Jay also homered for the Redbirds. Jaime Garcia (1-0) gave up two hits, one of them a homer by Miguel Montero, in 5 2/3 innings for the Cardinals.
