Add Milwaukee Brewers leftfielder Ryan Braun to the growing list of Major League Baseball players connected with the Miami clinic that allegedly supplied players with performance-enhancing drugs. Braun’s name appears three times on documents obtained by Yahoo Sports. MLB is currently investigating the Biogenesis clinic and its operator, Anthony Bosch to determine how widespread Bosch’s alleged PED involvement was.
Braun is on a list that includes Alex Rodriguez, Melky Cabrera and Cesar Carrillo, who the Miami New Times reported received PEDs from Bosch. Also on the list are New York Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli and Baltimore Orioles third baseman Danny Valencia, who weren’t listed near PEDs either.
Braun immediately issued a statement:
“There was a dispute over compensation for Bosch’s work, which is why my lawyer and I are listed under ‘moneys owed’ and not on any other list.
“I have nothing to hide and have never had any other relationship with Bosch. I will fully cooperate with any inquiry into this matter.”
Braun had a 2011 positive test result for performance-enhancing drugs and faced a 50 game suspension. The suspension was dropped when Braun successfully appealed MLB’s decision
