Mets Reach Agreement with Andrew Brown: Minor League Deal

New York Mets News
The New York Mets reached an agreement with right-handed hitting outfielder Andrew Brown on a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to big league spring training. Brown hit .232 with five homers in 46 games for Colorado last season. The Mets outfield is left-handed hitting heavy with Lucas Duda, Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Mike Baxter.Brown is a career .321/.414/.612 hitter  in the upper minors.

The Mets acquired catcher Travis d’Arnaud, right-hander Noah Syndergaard, catcher John Buck from Toronto last month for reigning NL Cy Young  winner R.A. Dickey but have yet to to address deficiencies in the outfield. Brown figures to provide outfield depth at best for New York, but more likely would start the season in Triple-A Las Vegas. New York continues its search for outfield help and are said to be interested in free -agent Scott Hairston, but his salary demands may be an obstacle in that happening.
