Orioles Rebound to Force Game 5 With Yankees

Machado scored the game-winner inning

Manny Machado led of the the 13th inning with a double and scored on another double by J.J. Hardy and the Orioles beat the New York Yankees 2-1 to force a deciding game five in the ALDS. Jim Johnson who gave up the tying home run last night to Raul Ibanez pitched a perfect bottom half of the 13th to earn the save for Baltimore. Eric Chavez, pinch-hitting for Alex Rodriguez, lined out to end the game.

Nate McLouth homered in the fifth inning to give the Orioles a 1-0 lead. Derek Jeter then scored on a Robinson Cano groundout in the sixth inning to tie the game. Baltimore starter Joe Saunders pitched 5 2/3 innings allowing one earned run and striking out five, and was matched by Yankee starter Phil Hughes who pitched into the seventh inning allowing one earned run and striking out eight.
