Sabathia was dominant in Game One against Orioles
CC Sabathia allowed two runs and eight hits in 8 2/3 innings to help the New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 7-2 Sunday night in the opener of their AL Divisional Series. Sabathia was 0-2 during regular season against Baltimore. Sabathia allowed a two-run single in the third inning to Nate McLouth to account for all of the Orioles’ runs. “Fastball command was good, worked off that,” Sabathia said. “Throwing the ball pretty good getting the corners. Tried to stay out there and make some pitches.”
Sabathia’s record is now 6-1 with the Yankees in the postseason.
“It’s tough. It’s just tough going, period,” Orioles manager Buck Showalter said. “Jimmy has been great for us all year and will be again. Tonight just wasn’t his night.”
Game two is tonight. Andy Pettitte (5-4, 2.87) will be starting for the Yankees and RHP Wei-Yin Chen (12-11, 4.02) will take the mound for the Orioles
