AL Recaps – Orioles Shut Down Yankees

Baltimore 6 – New York 1 –   Miguel Gonzalez pitched seven shutout innings and struck out nine as the Baltimore Orioles beat the New York Yankees 6-1. Hiroki Kuroda pitched into the ninth inning allowing four earned runs and striking out four. Derek Lowe gave up two runs in the ninth inning for the Yankees. Mark Reynolds and J.J. Hardy hit homers from Baltimore. Curtis Granderson had a home run in the ninth inning for New York’s only run.

Chicago 4 – Detroit 7 – Delmon Young had tiebreaking three-run double in the seventh inning and the Detroit Tigers beat the Chicago White Sox 7-4 enclosed within two games of the American League Central division leading White Sox. Miguel Cabrera and Jhonny Peralta added homers for Detroit . A.J. Pierzynski had two hits a home run

Texas 5 – Cleveland 3 – Adrian Beltre had four hits and scored two runs to lead the Texas Rangers over Cleveland 5-3. Ryan Dempster pitched six innings and struck out seven, allowing one run that was unearned for his fourth win as a Ranger
