NL Recaps – Pirates Power Halts Slide against Dodgers

Pittsburgh Pirates news Los Angeles 6 – Pittsburgh 10 – The Pittsburgh Pirates turned on some power to defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-6.

Garrett Jones hit two three-run homers, and Pedro Alvarez also homered for the Pirates. A.J. Burnett won his 15th game despite giving up six runs in 6 2/3 innings.

Matt Kemp along with manager Don Mattingly were ejected in the top of the second inning for the Dodgers. Hanley Ramirez, Andre Eithier and Mark Ellis each had two hits for Los Angeles. Pittsburgh had won just three of 10 games.

New York 8  – Cincinnati 4Matt Harvey allowed one run and four hits, over 7 2/3 innings striking out eight and walking one. Ike Davis went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI. Ryan Ludwick hit his 22nd home run of the year for the Reds

San Diego 0 – Atlanta 6  – Chipper Jones hit two home runs for Atlanta and the Braves beat San Diego 6-0 . Jason Heyward hit his 20th home run of the year, and had three hits. Kris Medlen moved his record to 4-1 with a five hit shutout. He struck out six.

Philadelphia 4 – Milwaukee 7Ryan Braun hit two home runs for the Brewers, and Aramis Ramirez added another. Cliff Lee had 12 strikeouts

Miami – ColoradoCarlos Lee and Giancarlo Stanton homered for the Marlins. Michael Cuddyer homered for the Rockies in his first game back from the disabled list.
