Phillies Trade Shane Victorino To Dodgers for Josh Lindblom and Ethan Martin

Shane Victorino Philadelphia Phillies NewsThe Philadelphia Phillies have traded outfielder Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Dodgers for  Josh Lindblom and  Ethan Martin . Late last night the Dodgers acquired Brandon League from the Mariners in a  move to bolster their bullpen making Lindblom more expendable.

The trade also allowed the Dodgers to pursue Victorino , with reliever Lindblom as trade capital. Lindblom has pitched to a 3.01 ERA across 47.2 innings, with a 8.1/9 strikeout ratio. He has allowed 42 hits.

Martin is a former first round pick and is pitching to a 3.58 ERA, 8.5 K/9, 4.7 BB/9, and 0.38 HR/9 in 118 innings in Double-A  this year.

Victorino is batting .261 with nine homers, 40 RBI and 24 stolen bases in 101 games.

The  Phillies have won five straight National League East division titles, the longest such streak in baseball. However, that streak will come to an end this year.

The Phillies signed All-Star left-hander Cole Hamels  to $144 million deal last week. Cliff Lee , Joe Blanton and Hunter Pence may be next in the Phillies trade news. the trade also opens a spot for Domonic Brown and John Mayberry Jr.
