The Philadelphia Phillies have traded outfielder Shane Victorino to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Josh Lindblom and Ethan Martin . Late last night the Dodgers acquired Brandon League from the Mariners in a move to bolster their bullpen making Lindblom more expendable.
The trade also allowed the Dodgers to pursue Victorino , with reliever Lindblom as trade capital. Lindblom has pitched to a 3.01 ERA across 47.2 innings, with a 8.1/9 strikeout ratio. He has allowed 42 hits.
Martin is a former first round pick and is pitching to a 3.58 ERA, 8.5 K/9, 4.7 BB/9, and 0.38 HR/9 in 118 innings in Double-A this year.
The Phillies have won five straight National League East division titles, the longest such streak in baseball. However, that streak will come to an end this year.
