The Houston Astros continue to be one of the most active teams this season when it comes to making trades.
The Astros traded LHP Wandy Rodriguez to the Pittsburgh Pirates. Rodriguez has posted a 3.79 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 89/32 K/BB ratio in 130 2/3 innings this season for last-place Houston.
Rodriguez is owed $13 million for that 2013 season and carries a $13 million club option ( with a $2.5 million buyout) four 2014. The deal included the Astros picking up parts of Rodriguez’s salary.
The Pirates still looking to add a bat to their lineup before the July 31 deadline. The Astros added yet another prospect to their organization as Robbie Grossman will be heading to Houston as will LHP Rudy Owens 3.14 ERA 85/25 K/BB ratio over 117 1/3 innings and LHP Colton Cain 4.20 ERA and 51/25 K/BB ratio over 74 innings for High-A Bradenton, Grossman is batting .262/.374/.403 this season at Double-A Altoona.
