Ichiro Suzuki apparently asked Mariners CEO several weeks ago about a trade.
Although Seattle general manager Jack Zduriencik was adamant about not trading Ichiro, today he was traded to the New York Yankees for prospect pitchers D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar.
Ichiro is stuck in the middle of his worst season in the major leagues, batting .261 with an OBP of .268 and a .352 slugging percentage.
Additionally right fielder Nick Swisher has a strained hip flexor and will miss a few more games this week.
Ichiro has spent his entire 12 year career with the Mariners.
Earlier today we reported the Yankees would be looking to add offense as well as pitching at the trade deadline.
