When Matt Garza was removed from his last start with triceps spasms, one of the hottest names in this years trade market cooled off to some degree.
There will still be interested in Garza but his trade value is diminished, despite how the Cubs try to spin the story.
After initially, showing interest in Garza the Boston Red Sox may be looking in another direction for starting pitching help. The Red Sox interest seems to have cooled after Garza suffered the spasms in his triceps.
While there still may be interest, until more is known about Garza’s condition, teams might be more inclined to look elsewhere. However not everyone is thinking that way.
“Why not?” said one ranking National League evaluator. “His last pitch [in the third inning Saturday] was 96 [mph] on the black.’’
But would they be interested at the steep price the Cubs are seeking?
“That’s the thing,” he said.
So it would appear that unless a team is desperate to pay the price, the Cubs will have to settle for less.
