The Oakland A’s completed a four-game sweep of the New York Yankees, rallying to beat the Yankees 5-4 on a game ending single by Coco Crisp in the 12th inning.
With the win, the A’s improved to 14-2 , in July, the best in the major leagues. the Yankees have not been swept in a four-game series since May of 2003.
With the Yankees leading 4-0 entering the bottom half of the fifth, Brandon Inge and Kurt Suzuki, each homered, to cut the lead in half.
With closer Rafael Soriano on the mound, Seth Smith homered in the ninth-inning to tie the game and it stayed that way until the 12th, when Crisp singled home the game-winner.
CC Sabathia pitched seven solid for the Yankees, allowing just three hits while striking out six. He walked only one, and received a no decision. Soriano blew his second save of the season.
The A’s moved into a wild-card playoff spot, with the Los Angeles Angels, and the Baltimore Orioles.
