The San Francisco Giants Matt Cain will start the All-Star game for the National League in Kansas City. Cain will get the nod over the New York Mets R.A. Dickey. Tony LaRussa will manage the National League squad and this decision will likely draw the ire of some baseball fans.
Dickey is having a remarkable year.
Dickey is a worthy candidate with a 12-1 record, 2.40 ERA, 123 strikeouts in 120 innings pitched and just 32 earned runs allowed. Dickey pitched back-to-back one hitters earlier this year
Making decisions like these is never easy for All-Star managers. There are only two starters for the game, and someone has to be left out. Earlier today Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers was announced as the American League starter
Source says Dickey is not starting All-Star game. Will be Cain vs. Verlander.
