According to the Dallas Morning News the Texas Rangers have signed free-agent right-hander Roy Oswalt. Oswalt, 34, spent last season with Philadelphia, going 9-10 with a 3.69 ERA. He was on the disabled list twice last season because of lower-back inflammation.
The terms of the deal with Oswalt could not be determined. Oswalt would likely make a few minor league starts before joining the Rangers. The Los Angeles Dodgers were also thought to be interested in Oswalt and reportedly made an offer to him. the Rangers became more interested in Oswalt after Neftali Feliz went on the disabled list May 19 with a sprained ligament in his right elbow.
Oswalt joins a team where run support should not be a problem, as the Rangers are one of the more powerful teams offensively in all of baseball.
