Phillies Michael Young Clears Waivers – Can Now Be Dealt

Trade RumorsPhiladelphia Phillies veteran third baseman Michael Young has cleared waivers and now can be traded to any team. Young has a full no-trade clause which could still make trading him more complex as he would have to approve any deal.

Young, 36, is hitting .276/.343/.404 with eight home runs in his first season with the Phillies.

Prior to the trade deadline Young was linked to several teams most notably the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.

Young is making $16 million this season with the Texas Rangers paying $10 million of that after the trade that sent him to Philadelphia in the off-season.

With the Phillies now 18 games and 2-8 over their last 10 games behind the Atlanta Braves a trade seems almost a certainty.
