Blue Jays Would Trade Colby Rasmus For Pitching

Toronto Blue Jays newsDespite adding R.A. Dickey,  Mark Buehrle and Josh Johnson last year the Toronto Blue Jays suffered a disappointing 2013 season and are in the market for starting pitching, according to Bob Elliot of the Toronto Sun.

The Blue Jays are willing to trade Colby Rasmus in order to satisfy their needs and reportedly have had discussion with two teams on a deal, though nothing is imminent.

Rasmus, 27 , hit 276/.338/.501 with 22 homers in 118 games for Toronto and is a solid defender in center field.

Rasmus will be a free-agent after next season, and is expected to get around $6.5 million in salary arbitration for 2014. The Jays aren’t sure they can sign Rasmus long-term making him the perfect trade piece to upgrade the rotation.
