The Texas Rangers reached an agreement with former Toronto reliever Jason Frasor on a one-year deal.

Frasor, 35, was 1-1 with a 4.12 ERA in 43 2/3 innings with Toronto last season.

Terms of the deal were not immediately released released, but Frasor earned $3.75 million last season.

Frasor has already passed a physical.

The news that the Rangers were nearing a deal with Frasor was first reported by  Gerry Fraley of The Dallas Morning News.

Frasor is expected to help absorb the loss of former Rangers right-hander Mike Adams who signed with the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this off-season.

Frasor is a strikeout pitcher much like Adams, had 53 strikeouts for a career-high rate of 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings last season, and missed almost 2 months with forearm tightness.

Frasor has served as a setup man for most of his career, and is the Toronto Blue Jays all-time leader in appearances with 505, although it does have 36 career saves over nine seasons at the major-league level.
