Rays Ink Ronald Belisario to Minor League Deal

BelisarioThe Tampa Bay Rays signed free agent right-hander Ronald Belisario to a minor league deal according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Belisario was thought to on the verge of a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this week before that deal fell through. The deal includes an invite to major league spring training. Bellisario will compete for two open spots in the Rays bullpen.

Belisario is coming off an uninspiring 2014 season where he posted 5.56 ERA in 66.1 innings pitched while picking up eight saves in 12 chances. Over his career the 32 year old Belisario is 24-20 with a 3.75 ERA, 267 strikeouts, 12 saves and 84 holds in just over 331 innings of work in five seasons.

He made his major-league debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2009.
