Price improved to 20-5 and maintained his major-league best 2.56 ERA

David Price became Tampa Bay’s first 20-game winner pitching seven innings, scattering five hits, allowing two runs and striking out four as the Rays beat the Chicago White Sox 6-2. Tampa bay won for the 10th time in their last 11 games, while Chicago lost for the 10th time in their last 12 games.

B.J. Upton backed up Price with a pair of home runs, giving him 28 for the season. Ryan Roberts chipped in a with a solohomer and Evan Longoria an RBI double.  Price improved to 20-5 and maintained his major-league best 2.56 ERA, also strengthening his candidacy for the AL Cy Young Award.  Price (20-5) improved to 12-1 with a 2.26 ERA in his last 18 starts. Fernando Rodney pitched a perfect 9th inning in a non-save situation to secure the win.

Tampa Bay began the day three games behind Oakland and were eliminated from wining the AL East earlier in the day following wins by both New York and Baltimore. The Rays return home to face Baltimore in a season ending three game series.
