Matt Moore Dominant Against the Yankees, Rays Win 4th Straight

Rays NewsMatt Moore allowed two hits, and one run over  eight innings of work and the Tampa Bay Rays  handled the New York Yankees in the first game of a three-game series at Tropicana Field.

Moore allowed  an infield hit and a home run to Robinson Cano, but  nothing more. Moore  became the first Tampa Bay pitcher to win his first four starts of a season and his ERA creeped up to 1.04.

Ryan Roberts homered twice off CC Sabathia and Yunel Escobar added a solo shot as the Rays jumped out to a 5-0 lead. Sabathia had a three-game winning streak end and gave up five runs and seven hits over seven innings. Tampa Bay  won its fourth game  straight game and improved their record to 9-10.

The second game of the series will feature 2012  Cy Young Award winner David Price,  against Yankees right-hander Phil Hughes.

More Rays News: NFL CB Darrelle Revis, acquired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers  in a trade with the New York Jets,  threw out the ceremonial first pitch for Tampa Bay and received a rousing ovation from the crowd. Luke Scott will start a rehab assignment Tuesday at Class A Charlotte.
