Houston 5 – St. Louis 13 – David Freese went 3-for-4 with a three-run homer and four RBI, Allen Craig went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI, and the Cardinals steamrolled the Houston Astros to complete a series sweep 13-5.

Jake Westbrook pitched five innings and allowed five runs in a somewhat shaky start, but got his 13th win of the season.

The Cardinals pounded Astros pitching for 17 hits. Jose Altuve and Fernando Martinez each for the Astros. Ben Francisco had three hits and runs scored.

Colorado 1 – New York 0 – Collin McHugh pitched seven scoreless innings and struck out nine to win his big-league debut against the New York Mets 1-0. the game’s only run came when  Jordany Valdespin misplayed Tyler Colvin‘s leadoff drive in the eighth into a game-changing triple.

Chris Nelson then singled through a drawn in infield to score Colvin.
