Jaime Garcia to Have Shoulder Surgery, Out Until 2014

Cardinals NewsJaime Garcia will have shoulder surgery that will end his 2013 season. Garcia was examined by Dr. James Andrews who recommended the surgery, confirming an earlier diagnosis of a small tear in his labrum.

Cardinals team doctor George Paletta  will perform the surgery. Garcia is expected to be ready to go for the Cardinals in 2014.

Garcia was 5-2 with a 3.58 ERA before having to visit the doctors with shoulder pain.

The discomfort started in Game 2 of the NL Division series against the Washington Nationals last fall.

With the winter off Garcia tried to rehab the  shoulder but began to feel discomfort about two weeks ago.
