Seattle Mariners Michael Morse Smacks Fourth HR of 2013

Mariners NewsWhen the Seattle Mariners made the deal to acquire Michael Morse  they were looking for right-handed power.  So far, so good.  Morse hit his fourth home run in the past three games leading off the sixth inning against Athletics starter A.J. Griffin  and joined Ken Griffey Jr. as the only two Mariners players to hit four home runs in the fourth game of the season.  Griffey did it in the 1997 season.

“I hit the ball where it’s pitched,” said Morse, who earlier in the game had hit a long single one-hopped off the right-field wall. “So, if they pitch it away, I’m going to try to hit it away. That pitch (on Thursday) was in, so I hit it in. I don’t go up there trying to pull everything.”
