San Francisco Giants right-hander Tim Lincecum struck out eight batters over eight scoreless innings to lead the Giants past the Brewers 4-1. He allowed one hit over those eight innings.
Brandon Belt hit a three-run homer in the first inning off Donovan Hand (0-4). And Marco Scutaro and Brandon Crawford added three hits apiece to give Lincecum more than enough support.
Making the transition from a power pitcher Lincecum is establishing new identity.
Lincecum has a 3.38 ERA in his last 12 starts.
The 29-year-old is nearing the end of two-year, $40.5 million deal and could soon be one of the most unique free-agent cases in recent memory. Lincecum said it’s not something he thinks about.
“I’ve got this year to finish out,” he said. “I’ll worry about later, later.”
