Rays Face Elimination After Red Sox Win

ALDSAfter the Boston Red Sox took advantage of Tampa Bay’s bad luck and bad defense to overcome an early deficit and beat the Rays 12-2 on Friday in Game 1 of the AL Division Series, Tampa Bay looked to ace David Price to change their fortunes in Game 2.

It was not to be and the Red Sox roughed up Price for seven runs on nine hits in seven innings to beat Tampa Bay 7-4 and take a commanding 2-0 lead in the best of five ALDS.

Boston starter John Lackey turned in 5 1/3 innings giving up four runs but made big pitches in crucial situations before turning the game over to the Red Sox bullpen.

David Oritz had two home runs and Dustin Pedroia added two RBI for Boston. James Loney. Yunel Escobar  and Desmond Jennings had two hits each for Tampa Bay.
