NL Scores: Ryu Handles D-Backs, Braves Beat Strasburg. Wainwright Leads Cardinals

RyuHyun-Jin-Ryu  struck out nine Arizona Diamondbacks and pounded out three heads of his own at the plate to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Diamondbacks 7-5 . Adrian Gonzalez went 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs as the Dodgers stopped a six-game losing streak in Arizona dating to last season.

Matt Kemp singled in two runs, Skip Schumaker had an RBI double and Andre Ethier singled in a run for Los Angeles.Ryu (2-1) allowed three runs and six hits with just one walk. Brandon League pitched a perfect ninth for his fourth save.

The Dodgers led 6-1 after six innings, but Arizona tried to rally behind pinch-hit RBIs from Eric Hinske,Eric Chavez and Aaron Hill, and a home run by Martin Prado.

 Atlanta 3 Washington 1  Tim Hudson battled Stephen Strasburg,  but the Braves came out on top 3-1. Strasburg (1-2) didn’t give up an earned run in his six innings of work, but Atlanta got all the offense it needed when Washington third baseman Ryan Zimmerman threw wildly to first base after fielding Justin Upton‘s grounder and Gattis followed with his fourth home run in eight big league games. In close games like today, well-pitched games, it’s the little things you have to do that win the game,” Hudson said. “They made one mistake that cost them the game, and we were pretty solid all day.”

 St. Louis 8 Milwaukee 0 –  Adam Wainwright tossed a four-hitter and drove in two runs with three hits, including a pair in a seven-run sixth inning, and Cardinals beat the Milwaukee Brewers 8-0 on Saturday for their third straight shutout.

 San Francisco 3 Chicago 2 Madison Bumgarner allowed two runs while pitching into the seventh inning and Marco Scutaro had three hits for the Giants and Santiago Casilla and his first save of the season with two scoreless innings  in a 3-2  win over the Cubs.

 Miami 2 Philadelphia 1 –  Marlins 20-year old phenom Jose Fernandez pitched six scoreless innings to outduel Cole Hamels. Miami (2-9), playing without slugger Giancarlo Stanton , became the last team in the major leagues to win two games this year. Fernandez has a 0.82 ERA in his first two starts and has struck out 13 in 11 innings.

 Colorado 9 San Diego 5 – Jhoulys Chacin (2-0) allowed two runs and four hits in five innings, his ERA rising from 1.35 to 1.96. He threw 83 pitches to beat the Padres for the second time this season and improve Colorado to 5-0 against San Diego.
