AL Scores: Yankees Win Fourth Straight, Indians Walk-Off With Win, Astros Blank Angels

MLB ScoresThe New York Yankees took advantage of an error to Adam Jones to score 3 runs in the bottom of the seventh and went on to beat the Baltimore Orioles 5-2. Orioles center fielder Adam Jones dropped a fly ball off the bat of Vernon Wells, that scored Francisco Cervelli, Kevin Youkilis, and Trarvis Hafner.

“Just missed it,” Jones said. “You could say it’s rain. You could say it’s cold. You could say anything, wind, you could say whatever you want. I was there. Didn’t catch it. Cost my team the game.”

CC Sabathia  pitched eight innings, striking out nine and allowing one earned run to get the victory over New York. Youkilis  Added three hits to move his batting average to .424 to start the season.

 Cleveland 1 – Chicago 0  Justin Masterson extended his consecutive scoreless streak to 19 innings and Nick Swisher packed up the performance with a two-out RBI single in the bottom of the  ninth-inning give the Cleveland Indians a 1-0 win over the Chicago White Sox.  Masterson struck out seven, walked one and allowed five hits, and finished his night with 113 pitches.

 Toronto 8-Kansas City 4  The Toronto Blue Jays win over the Kansas City Royals was tainted when shortstop Jose Reyes  was carted off the field in the sixth inning with a severe ankle sprain. Reyes had just driven in two runs with a base hit when he was attempting to steal second base in the sixth inning. J. A Happ  survived a shaky first inning to earn the victory  Four Toronto.

Houston 5-Los Angeles 0  Bud Norris  pitched three had baseball over seven innings,  Justin Maxwell hit his first homerun of the season and Rick Ankiel  had three RBI to lead the Houston Astros to a 5-0  victory over the Los Angeles Angels.

Oakland A’s – Detroit 3   Josh Donaldson is an opposite field home run with one out in the 12th inning to give the Oakland athletics a 4-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. The A’s improved to an AL-best 9-2, just the third time in Oakland history the club has opened at least 9-2, also done in 1981 (11-0) and 1990 (9-2). Prince Fielder hit a three-run home run and Max Scherzer  start out 11 for Detroit.

Seattle 3 – Texas 1 Hishashi Iwakuma  6 2/3 solid innings to beat Yu Darvish  and the Texas Rangers 3-1. “I knew from the very beginning it was going to be a pitchers’ game,” Iwakuma said through an interpreter. “And knowing that (Darvish) is on the mound on the other side, it’s always exciting because he’s a good pitcher.” Ian Kinsler  homered Texas in the fourth inning.

New York 16-Minnesota 5  John Buck hit his sixth home run of the season, a grand slam to lead the New York Mets to a 16-5 route of the Minnesota Twins. Buck became only the fourth major league player in at least 92 years to reach 19 RBIs in the first 10 games of a season, according to STATS research dating to 1921.  Jonathan Niese  got the win for New York and Vance Worley suffered the loss for Minnesota.
