The Baltimore Orioles Chris Davis provided a sellout crowd of 46,653 with reason to celebrate the teams return home. Davis became the fourth player in major league history to homer in his first four games of the season, joining Willie Mays, Mark McGwire and Nelson Cruz.
He is 9 for 15 (.600) with four homers and 16 RBIs and the Baltimore Orioles scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to rally past the Minnesota Twins 9-5.
Davis’ 16 RBIs in his team’s first four games breaks the old big league record of 12. “He’s in a good place right now,” Orioles manager Buck Showalter said.
Boston 6 – Toronto 4 – Mike Napoli and Will Middlebrooks homered to lead the Boston Red Sox over the Toronto Blue Jays 6-4. Jose Reyes went 4 for 5 with two RBIs and Josh Johnson gave up nine hits over six innings in his Toronto debut.
Seattle 8-Chicago 7 – Kendrys Morales hit a tiebreaking double in the 10th inning and Jesus Montero tacked on a run-scoring single, leading the Seattle Mariners to an 8-7 victory over the Chicago White Sox
Oakland 8- Hosuton 3 Dan Straily struck out 11 Houston Astros in 6 2/3 innings while allowing just five hits to lead Oakland over Houston 8-3. Straily (1-0) was sent down after the game to make room on the roster for Bartolo Colon, who will face the Astros on Saturday in his first start since receiving a 50-game suspension Aug. 22 for a positive testosterone test.
