Barry Zito Struggles Again in Loss to Rockies

San Francisco Giants newsBarry Zito turned in his second straight poor performance for the San Francisco Giants, this time a 5-0 loss to the Colorado Rockies. Zito allowed five runs on 11 hits, striking out four and walked two.

After a 1-5 road trip  Giants manager Bruce Bochy  may be ready to make some changes.

“We’re going to make some adjustments,” he said. “It’s a great starting rotation and has done some remarkable things for us, but at the same time, it’s a new year.

The Giants starting rotation pitched to 9.82 ERA on the trip.

“It’s up to us to get home and start playing better ball,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. “Overall we just had a horrible trip.”

Zito made two starts on the road trip allowing 23 hits in 11 1/3 innings of work. The performance mirrored his outing against Toronto on Tuesday, when he allowed eight runs, five earned in 5 2/3 innings.

Offensively the Giants could only muster five hits against Colorado starter Juan Nicasio  and the Rockies bullpen.

Carlos Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki each drove in two runs for Colorado,  and Dexter Fowler added four hits.

San Francisco Giants Fantasy News

After considering skipping his turn in the rotation Bochy  has decided Ryan Vogelsong  will make his next scheduled start against the Washington Nationals. Vogelsong takes and 8.06 ERA into the game. Obviously, for fantasy managers it’s best to sit him down until he rights the ship.
