Roy Halladay Will Retire With Toronto Blue Jays

Phillies NewsThe Toronto Blue Jays has announced a one day contract for right-hander Roy Halladay in which he will announce his retirement from Major League Baseball. Halladay, 36, missed the majority of last season after undergoing shoulder surgery that curtailed the remainder of the season.

Halladay debuted with Toronto in 1998 and would spend the first 12 years of his MLB career with the Jays.

He finished with a 4-5 record with a 6.82 ERA in 13 starts in 2013.

Halladay  closes a remarkable career with a 203-105 record and a 3.3 ERA with 2117 strikeouts in 2,749 1/3 innings pitched.

Halladay finishes with 20 shutouts and 67 complete games and won two Cy Young awards. Halladay finished in the Top 10 in NL MVP voting in both 2010 an 2011 and was named to  eight All-Star teams.
