Yankees Alex Rodriguez Cleared To Begin Rehab Games On July 1

Yankees NewsNew York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez has been given medical clearance by doctors to begin rehab games beginning July 1.  Rodriguez hasn’t played at all in 2013, having undergone surgery on his left hip in January.

It was projected that he could return after the All-Star break, and that timeline seems to be accurate at this point.

He would likely need 20 or so games of rehab before returning to the major leagues. Rodriguez, 37, hit .272/.353/.430 with 18 homers and 57 RBIs in 122 games last season.

A-Rod also faces an investigation by Major League Baseball into the Biogenesis steroid scandal and is said to be on of list of players that may be suspended for involvement with the Miami-based clinic.
