Russ Canzler Claimed Off Waivers by New York Yankees

Yankees News
Russ Canzler has been claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Indians by the New York Yankees. It was the third time this off-season that Canzler has been claimed on waivers. The Toronto Blue Jays claimed him in December  and Cleveland claimed him back on January 2nd.
The Indians originally designated Canzler for assignment when the Indians signed infielder Mark Reynolds. Canzler appeared in 26 games for the Indians as a September call-up last year, batting .269 (25-for-93) with three home runs and 11 RBIs. Canzler appeared in three games for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2011.

Canzler  was just reclaimed by the Indians on Wednesday, but was designated for assignment to clear a roster spot for free-agent Brett Myers. The Yankees  designated outfielder Chris Dickerson for assignment to make room for Canzler. Dickerson hit a .316/.417/.515 at AAA in 2012.
