Dodgers Zack Greinke To Have “Precautionary Exam” on Sore Elbow

Dodgers NewsLos Angeles Dodgers right-hander Zack Greinke complained of an irritation in his right elbow while throwing on Sunday. That was enough for the team to send him to Dr. Neal El Attrache for what the team called a “precautionary exam” ordered out of an “abundance of caution.”  Greinke was scratched from Monday’s scheduled start

Greinke signed with the Dodgers this past off-season for $147 million, which made him the highest-paid right-handed pitcher in major league history. Greinke  has been very durable over his career having pitched 200+ innings every year since 2008. Greinke told the club that he dealt with similar elbow issues in the past but that they never kept him from missing a start.

The Dodgers have a surplus of pitching with eight starters in camp. Clayton KershawJosh BeckettChad Billingsley and Hyun-jin Ryu are also expected to start the season in the rotation. Other  options include Chris CapuanoAaron Harang and Ted Lilly .
