Brett Myers Reaches Agreement with Cleveland Indians

Free-agent right-hander Brett Myers has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with the Cleveland Indians. The deal is pending a physical and includes a club option for 2014. Myers is 97-93 with a 4.20 ERA over 11 seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, Houston Astros, and Chicago White Sox. Myers will join Mark Reynolds, Nick Swisher, Trevor Bauer, Drew Stubbs as new members of the Cleveland Indians in 2013. Myers finished the 2012 campaign with Chicago White Sox after being acquired in a trade with the Houston Astros in July. Myers went 3-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 35 relief appearances with the White Sox and 0-4 with a 3.52 ERA in 35 games for Houston. Myers has pitched both as a starter and a reliever in the major leagues but is expected to compete for a spot in the Cleveland rotation in 2013. That rotation includes Justin Masterson, Ubaldo Jimenez, Zach McAllister, Bauer, Carlos Carrasco, Corey Kluber, Jeanmar Gomez and David Huff. Veteran left-hander Scott Kazmir was also signed to a minor-league deal.
