The Texas Rangers shut out the Houston Astros 4-0 for the second day in a row, this time behind starter Alexi Ogando and a strong showing by the Rangers bullpen. Hogan does struck out 10.Lance Berkman, Nelson Cruz, and A.J. Pierzynski provided all the offense that was needed against the suddenly floundering Astros. Philip Humber pitched into the sixth inning allowing one earned run for Houston.
Boston 7 – New York 4 – Clay Buchholz was solid through seven innings allowing one run and six hits while striking out four and the Boston Red Sox beat the New York Yankees 7-4. Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda became the latest Yankees player to get hurt, leaving in the second inning with a 2-0 deficit, four batters after Shane Victorino‘s line drive bruised the middle finger of his pitching hand.
The Red Sox jumped to a quick 6-0 lead in the first three innings. Jacoby Ellsbury had two RBI and Jackie Bradley Jr. got his first hit with an RBI single up the middle in the third to drive in a run. Ryan Dempster makes his Red Sox debut in Thursday’s series finale
Cleveland 3- Toronto 2 – Mark Reynolds made his first hit of 2013 Cal with a tie-breaking home run in the 11th inning as the Indians beat the Blue Jays 3-2 in Toronto. Reynolds drilled a leadoff shot into the second deck off Sergio Santos (0-1), the fifth Blue Jays reliever. Cleveland’s Michael Brantley went 4 for 5 with an RBI. Jose Bautista homered for Toronto. Ubaldo Jimenez Completed six innings of one run ball, and Brandon Morrow matched him with six innings of his own before turning the game over to the bullpens.
Tampa Bay 8-Baltimore 7 – Matt Joyce hit a walkoff home run for the Tampa Bay Rays after Tampa Bay closer Fernando Rodney blew his first save of the season in the top of the ninth.
Minnesota 3- Detroit 2 – Eduardo Escobar‘s two run double in the ninth inning completed a comeback for the Minnesota Twins over the Detroit Tigers. Tigers designated closer Phil Coke took the loss.
