According to Jon Heyman the Miami Marlins have hired Mike Redmond as the clubs next manager. Redmond spent the past two years managing Class A teams in the Toronto Blue Jays’ system. Redmond will take over for Ozzie Guillen who was fired after a tumultuous and disappointing season in late October.
Lloyd McClendon spoke with Marlins officials earlier this week, who also interviewed , Larry Bowa and Bryan Price. The Cincinnati Reds’ pitching coach, Price this week removed his name from consideration. Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the 41-year-old Redmond will get a three-year contract.
Guillen congratulated Redmond via twitter, and yet another reason why I will always like Ozzie.
