Marlins Giancarlo Stanton Homers Twice To Reach 100 In Career

Miami Marlins newsMiami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton hit two home runs Monday night in a win over the Arizona Diamondbacks including a game-winning blast off Heath Bell in the top of the ninth.

The two home runs were his 99th and 100 of his career and made him the 10th youngest player to reach 100 home runs and the ninth fastest in Major League history to do so.

The Marlins only had two hits in the game but they made them count with the Stanton home runs. The outfielder struggled mightily in April, batting .227, but since returning to the lineup he has hit .392 with four homers and 10 RBIs.

“We didn’t get a whole lot going offensively, but we kept it close,” Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. “We gave ourselves an opportunity to get a big hit and Stanton did it tonight. It was a big win for us.”
