Giancarlo Stanton Leaves Game – Knee Surgery Set

MarlinsGiancarlo Stanton left the game tonight against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in the third inning with reported right knee discomfort.

Earlier this week an MRI revealed loose bodies in his right knee. Stanton had opted to play through the discomfort, knowing that eventually surgery would be required.

That time is now,  as Joe Frisaro reports, Stanton is scheduled for surgery on Sunday morning at 7 AM in Miami. Stanton was selected for the All-Star game, and obviously will not be participating now. this  surgery, typically requires 2 to 8 weeks of recovery.
