Hyun-Jin Ryu, Dodgers Shut Down Cardinals in NLCS Game 3

NLCS Hyun-Jin Ryu and the Los Angeles Dodgers bullpen shutout the St Louis Cardinals 3- 0 in game 3 of the 2013 NLCS. He became the first Dodger to pitch seven shutout innings in a postseason game since Jerry Reuss in 1981, yielding just three hits.

The Dodgers still trail the Cardinals, 2 games to 1 in the best-of-seven series.

ryuThe left-hander didn’t allow a Cardinals runner past second base. David Freese‘s single to right leading off the fifth was their first hit of the game.

St Louis starter Adam Wainwright gave up two runs and six hits in seven innings. The right-hander struck out five and walked none in his first career postseason loss.

Yasiel Puig and Hanley Ramirez  had run-scoring hits for the Dodgers. Puig had struck out seven times before getting his first hit against the Cardinals.

He raised his arms and watched the ball sail toward right before starting to charge harder when he realized it wasn’t going to be a home run.

Game 4 will be Tuesday at Dodger Stadium, followed by Game 5 on Wednesday.
