Angels’ Mike Trout: “My Time Will Come”

Angels NewsWhen the Los Angeles Angels  renewed  American League Rookie of the Year Mike Trout‘s contract on Saturday for $510,000,  his agent Craig Landis said the deal  “falls well short of a ‘fair’ contract,.”

After all, hit .326 with 30 homers and 83 RBIs, and led the majors with 129 runs and 49 steals.  He also finished second to the Detroit Tigers Miguel Cabrera in MVP voting.

Trout had his own response today  and provided one more reason to like him.

“I’m just happy to be in the lineup.” adding, “I mean, my time will come,” Trout said before a team meeting. “I just have to keep putting out numbers and concentrating on one thing, and that’s getting to the postseason.”

Trout likely will be eligible for arbitration after the 2014 season. Trout also  downplayed moving to left field in 2013. While acknowledging that he prefers cneterfield, he looks at the move as an  opportunity to make himself a better ballplayer.

“I’m a center fielder, obviously,” Trout said. “But you know, when you’re an outfielder, you should be able to play all three. I think it’s going to help me get reads off the bat. It’s going to be a fun adjustment for me.”

That might be yet another reason to like Mike Trout.
