Tejada will get another shot at the major leagues with Kansas City
Free-Agent Miguel Tejada has reached an agreement on a minor-league deal with the Kansas City Royals.
The deal is reportedly worth $1.1 million if Tejada makes the team.
Tejada, 38, hit just .239/.270/.326 with four homers and 26 RBI in 91 games for the Giants in 2011.
Tejada has been playing winter ball for the Aguilas Cibaenas in the Dominican league, and he’s hitting .284/.336/.433 with four homers, nine doubles and 19 RBI in 34 games.
Tejada is a six-time All-Star and was the 2002 American League MVP after hitting .308 with 34 home runs and 131 RBI with the Oakland A’s.
He is a career .285 hitter with 304 homers and 1,282 RBIs with the A’s, Orioles, Houston, San Diego and the Giants.
