Rangers Adrian Beltre Ruled Out for Game 2 of ALDS

Texas Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre has been ruled out for Friday’s Game 2 of the AL Division Series after suffering a back strain during the series opener. Beltre was hurt in the first inning of Thursdays 5-3 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. The loss of Beltre even for one game is significant. Beltre hit .287 with 18 homers and 87 RBIs this season. Pittsburgh Pirates Andrew McCutchen Headed to DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates are expected to announced that All-Star center fielder Andrew McCutchen will be placed 15-day disabled list due to an oblique muscle injury, according to the  the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. McCutchen may miss up to a month of playing time, significantly impacting the Pirates run at a playoff spot. The injury occurred during Sundays game with the Arizona Diamondbacks during an eighth inning at bat. The Houston Astros placed George Springer on the 15 day DL, technically with a right quad injury, although he has been experiencing right knee discomfort as well. Time for the truth. I wasn’t sure what Chikungunya virus was, but it didn’t sound like something I would want. Doctors confirmed New York Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka has a partially torn UCL  in his right elbow and will miss a minimum of six weeks. New York Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka has been placed on the disabled list with a sore elbow, the club announced Wednesday. The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed young ace Gerrit Cole on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder fatigue. The move is retroactive to June 4. Atlanta Braves right-hander Tim Hudson was carted off the field after being stepped on by New York Mets outfielder Eric Young Jr. accidentally stepped on his right ankle/foot at first base. The top pitching prospect in the Tampa Bay Rays organization, Taylor Guerrieri, underwent Tommy John surgery today and will most likely be out until the 2015 season. Pittsburgh Pirates Place Jason Grilli on the 15 Day DL

The Pittsburgh Pirates placed RHP Jason Grilli on the 15-day disabled list with a right forearm strain. Grilli was forced to exit Monday’s game after he hurt his forearm on a pitch. The 36-year-old All-Star closer came into the game with a 1.94 ERA in 41 2/3 innings. He had gone 30-for-31 in save chances. Grilli is scheduled to head back to Pittsburgh for tests. The Cincinnati Reds placed setup man, Jonathan Broxton, on the DL with a right elbow flexor strain. Broxton’s stint is retroactive to June 14th  and it is unclear at this time whether he will be back by his eligible return date. Brewers Ryan Braun Placed On DL

The Milwaukee Brewers put outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15 day disabled list following a 4-3 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night. Braun had missed the last four games with a sore right thumb and attempted a batting practice session that did not go well.
