Josh Lueke Recalled For Rays, Brandon Gomes To The DL

Rays NewsAccording to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reliever Brandon Gomes has been placed on the disabled list with a right lat strain, and Josh Lueke  has been recalled from Durham to  take his place on the roster.

Lueke was acquired from the Seattle Mariners last year in a trade for catcher John Jaso and has spent the majority of his time with the Rays at the AAA level.

So far this season Lueke is 2-0  with a 0.95 ERA in 29 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched.  He has recorded seven saves and held opponents to a .176 batting average against.

Fantasy Play: Not really a lot to say here. Lueke  has struggled during his time at the major-league level. Joe Maddon  likes to get new additions to the team acclimated rather quickly so look for Lueke  to get into a game very soon perhaps tonight.  If he can maintain his strikeout ratio at the major-league level  he might be worth watching.
