Brandon League Struggles Continue For Dodgers

Dodgers newsBrandon League has converted eight of nine save opportunities this season although he allowed a run in three of those games. League has allowed a run in seven of his last 10 appearances. Last night League  gave up a game-winning home run to Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt.

It was the second time in four days that league has surrendered a game-winning home run. On Saturday night in San Francisco, League gave up a game-ending homer by Guillermo Quiroz in a 10-9 loss to the Giants

“Mechanics are not the issue right now,” League said. “I’m not all over the strike zone or out of the strike zone, whatever you want to call it. I’m just not executing what I need to execute.”

Fantasy Play:  Whether it’s mechanics or execution fantasy owners should be concerned. The closer situation in Los Angeles  is one worth monitoring. League  is now sporting a 5.40 ERA with only seven strikeouts against 57 batters, not exactly closer type numbers. Kenley Jansen will be in line  for save opportunities should the Dodgers opt to make a change.
