Miguel Cabrera Hits 3 Home Runs In Tigers Loss

Detroit Tigers newsMiguel Cabrera hammered three home runs and  had five RBI in a 11-8 loss to the Texas Rangers  in Arlington. Cabrera was 4-for-4  on the night to raise his league-leading average to .384 and his RBI total to 46.

Cabrera hit a three-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth off Derek Holland, then went deep again in the eighth against Tanner Scheppers.

The reigning American League MVP and Triple Crown winner  is a serious contender to repeat in 2013 for both awards.

Only two players in major league history have won multiple Triple Crowns, Rogers Hornsby in 1922 and ’25, and Ted Williams in 1942 and ’47.

David Murphy hit a three-run home run and Adrian Beltre had four hits and two RBI  For the Rangers who had 18 hits against Detroit pitching.

Detroit starter Doug Fister went just 4 2/3 innings  allowing nine hits and five runs before turning the game over to the Tigers bullpen. The Tigers scored 10 of their 11 runs in a three inning stretch between the fifth and seventh-inning.
