Anibal Sanchez Loses No-Hitter Settles For One-Hit Shutout

Tigers NewsAnibal Sanchez lost a no-hitter with one out in the ninth inning when Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer lined a  single up the middle.

It would have been the second no-hitter in Sanchez’s career.  His first no-hitter as a rookie came Sept. 6, 2006

As the video shows it was a clean hit and Sanchez instinctively reached for the ball, but had no shot.

Sanchez settled for a one-hit shutout, the fifth one hitter of the 2013 season.

Sanchez (5-4) struck out  12 and walked three. Sanchez struck out 17 and eight innings against Atlanta on April 26.

Miguel Cabrera and Omar Infante  each had two RBI for the Tigers and Andy Dirks added three hits in the 6-0 win.

Samuel Deduno surrendered six earned runs and nine hits in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss for Minnesota. The last-place Twins have lost 10 straight
