Carlos Gonzalez Homers, Triples in Rockies Win

Colorado Rockies NewsCarlos Gonzalez continues to slug for the Colorado Rockies. In Wednesday’s 4-1 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks, Gonzalez would go 2-for-4 with a triple and a home run, driving in two of the four runs scored by the Colorado offense.

With two outs in the bottom of the first-inning, Gonzalez launched a solo home run off of Trevor Cahill, giving the Rockies a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third-inning, Gonzalez would come to the plate and scorch a changeup from Trevor Cahill down the right field line, sliding into third with a triple and scoring DJ LeMahieu in the process, giving the Rockies a 3-0 lead.

Colorado starter Jorge De La Rosa turned in a solid outing, working 5.1 innings and gave up one run on six hits. De La Rosa improved to a 6-3 record and now boasts a 3.40 ERA in 55.2 innings this season, who has been a pleasant surprise for Colorado in the wake of an injury-shortened season in 2012.

With the win, the Rockies improved to 26-21 on the season and currently share a three-way tie for the NL West division along with the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks.
